III. Generations, Responsibility and Legacy

A student must want to learn everything from their teacher — not only what the teacher does well, but also from the teacher’s mistakes.

A master must strive to make the student better at everything.

There is no greater reward than being outperformed by your student.

It is no different from a father teaching his son everything he knows, so the son can avoid the same mistakes and grow into a better man. That is evolution. Time does its work. Used wisely, it creates better individuals.

Without this, what would be our purpose?

Our generation has witnessed extraordinary change. We grew up with simple adventures, unlimited imagination, and real freedom. No smartphones, no endless screens — fun was outdoors, with friends, with creativity. When we were bored, we invented something to do.

Times have changed dramatically. Technology has reshaped life in ways few could have predicted. Many now recognise its damaging effects. The way we once lived has become something people long for again. Those of us who remember have a responsibility to show younger generations another way.

Martial arts offer exactly that. I deeply respect the young students who choose to train seriously, who step away from comfort and push themselves day after day. They will become a rare and valuable minority in their generation.

And this once again proves that Wing Tsun truly is a river of time — connecting generations, carrying knowledge forward, and flowing steadily into the future.
